There was no need to assault him physically. He could have imposed fine on him or any other action could have been taken.

Police should not assault anyone especially a senior citizen.
Proper training should be given to the the police personnel.
The main issue is the moment people get some kind of authority they get tyrannical and think that they can kick people around.

Helmet rule should be removed as it is unnecessarily adding more duties to police. People should on their volition wear helmet, if they feel they are safe because of that.
Raiders angular vision is limited when wearing helmet and also some may not be able to hear sound properly as helmet covers ear and sides of face. This may increase the chance of accident.
Further, helmet rule is a boon to chain snatchers and criminals as they can cover their faces without raising suspicion from others

So many such incidences are being reported now a days. Police need to be trained sufficiently how to behave and be humane towards the public . Not all policemen are bad. Because of just a few they get a bad name. Immediate action by the SP is highly appreciated. Strict action need to be taken against the guilty.

The job of a policeman is to help the public and ensure that law and order is maintained at all levels. It is difficult to understand this particular act of the constable. Obviously The Superintendent of Police has taken immediate action.

Several persons are helping the traffic department and there has not bee n a single instance where a warden has acted in a disorderly manner

Amidst chaos , smoke & constant honking on the road , its a hard life for a underpaid policeman.
daily laborers have a much peaceful work environment than a traffic policeman.
That doesn't justify manhandling of a senior citizen. but the department has to look after the welfare of the lower ranked police force..

The patience level for a traffic police is absolutely high. I feel the police dint assault just for wearing helmet. There must be some other reason too. Anyways assault is not an option. And everyone must learn from this incident. Hats off to the SP on taking a quick decision. Meanwhile request SP s to please ensure that the policemen are given adequate gas cannister masks as they are the ones who are directly bracing the hazards of pollution caused by vehicles.

Good action by SP. I really appreciate the UAE police for their sincerity on their duty (Even we are getting hefty of fines), because they do simply their duties nothing more. (even they dont talk much , just papers will do). Most of Indian cops do everything else but not their real duties. Just ask them once What is your responsibility / your duty as a police

@Santhosh kumar Sharjah, what or cop did to a senior citizen was not good.Sometimes some police act as though they are Gods and normal citizen have to obey them otherwise either they have to pay some bhaxis or fine. But I dont appriciate your comparision with UAE .police and their duty.well they too do their duty and our police too are not so bad atleast many.Other police from other countrys are too well disciplined .when they dont have discipline they will be having problems later by their pension and they will have to do duty elsewhere.Best is here no police should touch a prisoner or any person without their permission unless some serious problem arise.Make this police to pay a good amount of money to the senior citizen for assaulting him.Good he was suspended.
