Intellectuals like Amartya Sen have always misled society: BJP leader

Kolkata, Aug 27(PTI): The BJP on Sunday came down heavily on Amartya Sen, likening him to people who have always misled the society, a day after the Nobel laureate called for an alignment of non-BJP, non-communal forces for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

“Intellectuals like Sen, who had always professed Left ideology, are losing touch with reality. Sen had said CPI(M) is getting invisible. Nothing can be truer than this, nothing can be truer than the fact that people like Sen, a Marxist, have little relevance in the present times,” West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh told reporters on the sidelines of a party programme here.

On Sen’s call for defeating BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP leader said people like him have always taken the society on the wrong path.

“He had always given wrong direction to the society, it is no surprise he is again doing the same thing,” Ghosh said.

Sharply reacting to Ghosh’s diatribe against Sen, Trinamool Congress Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said, “One has to be a reader of books to acquire the right to speak on Amartya Sen.”

Chatterjee said, “Those people, who wield lathis at processions, should refrain from making comments on a person of Sen’s stature as they can’t appreciate the words spoken by an erudite person like him.”

Criticising the BJP government at the Centre, Sen had said yesterday that a party having got 31 per cent votes and ill motives in politics came to power in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Mr. Sen is pride of India. Uneducated leaders who defame intellectuals and Nobel Prize winners are a burden and disgrace to India. Mr. Gosh and his party would have licked the feet of Mr. Sen if he had wagged his tail to fake degree holders and advocated their foolish ideology to divide our country on religion. What these illiterates knows the value and meaning of Nobel Prize. The entire party is filled with bunch of jokers with foul mouth and loose tongue.

Modi led BJP Govt., always mislead and misleading Indians for their politics, rather than any national interest.

Today, we ready Diesel prices have gone all time high. Rupee, has crossed life time high, youths are jobless, corrupt are enjoying royalty, criminals are in loose, farmers and housewives are in distress. In addition to that media has been muscled out to rant, what sambit bhatra has to say. There is a saying foolishness can never see wisdom.

Seems, people may not forgive themselves now, for voting BJP to power, unless they have some illegitimate gain.

Intellectuals like Mr. Sen are not welcome in BJP. Mr. Sen has rightly commented on UNITY for 2019 elections and UPA will win 2019 elections.
