Mangaluru: Intercollegiate NSS fest ‘Aakrithi’ held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Aug 28: ‘Aakrithi’ means beautiful creation which outshines all other creations and NSS plays a similar role in the life of the NSS volunteers, by moulding them and giving them an opportunity to outshine. Taking inspiration from the same, the NSS unit of St Agnes College here for the first time conducted on August 27 an intercollegiate NSS fest ‘Aakrithi’ 2018.

The inaugural programme began with a prayer song led by NSS volunteers followed by the welcome dance.



Helen Serrao, NSS programme officer welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest Sr M Supriya AC, principal of Carmel College, Modankap. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning.

The unveiling of the trophies was the highlight of the inaugural function. Sr M Supriya AC delivered a short speech on having a helpful nature and extending service to mankind. Sr Dr M Jeswina AC encouraged all the students of the different colleges to participate and do their best.

Around eight colleges namely Govinda Dasa College, Padua College, Milagres College, MAPS College, Ramakrishna College, Ramakrishna College ( PUC), Canara College, Carmel College, Modankap participated. Six different competitions namely Elocution, Wealth out of waste, Poster Making, Singing, Folk Dance and Street Play were held.

The valedictory programme was held in the afternoon. Seema, Associate NSS programme officer welcomed the chief guest of the programme, Vineetha, NSS coordinator, Mangalore University and Sr Dr Venisa AC. Vineetha appreciated all the students for participating in the fest.

The overall championship was bagged by Govinda Dasa College and the runner ups were Ramakrishna College. The vote of thanks was proposed by Derik, Associate NSS Programme Officer. The programme concluded by singing the NSS anthem.
