Chennai, Aug 29 (IANS): DMK President M.K. Stalin on Wednesday declared his party's opposition to the Modi government.
In a letter to party cadres, Stalin said the DMK wanted to defeat the "anti-people" central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu.
He described the Tamil Nadu government as "spineless" and "corrupt".
The DMK's goal was to bring down the Modi government that he said was burying the concepts of social justice, destroying the country's multi-cultural feature, abrogating the powers of the states and trying to saffronize the entire country, Stalin said.
Stalin had made the same points after his election as the DMK President on Tuesday too.
He warned that the Lok Sabha and the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls may come one after another or even together.
He said that ideologically friendly parties were with the DMK.
