Taliban destroys key bridge in Afghanistan

Kabul, Aug 29 (IANS): Taliban militants blasted a key bridge in Afghanistan's Uruzgan province early on Wednesday, an official said.

"The Taliban insurgents in the latest attack against government interests dynamited a key bridge in provincial capital Tirin Kot city on Wednesday morning," Xinhua quoted government official Sayed Shah Habibi as saying.

Describing the attack as "enmity with people", the official said the bridge was constructed in 2012 to connect provincial capital Tirin Kot city to several districts and villages.

The destruction of the bridge has added to the suffering of the people in the province, the official added.

The Taliban has not commented on the incident yet.
