Madikeri, Aug 29: The body of Gilbert Mendonca who went missing after saving his family from a collapsing house in Kodagu, was found on Wednesday, August 29.
On August 16, due to heavy rains and landslides in the area, the family house of Gilbert, situated in Katikeri village near to Green Line Resort, started collapsing. Before the house collapsed completely, Gilbert managed to save his five family members. After rescuing them, Gilbert went closer to the house when he was buried under a huge pile of mud which suddenly came crashing down.
The family members who were taken to K R Hospital in Mysuru for treatment, are said to be recovering.
NDRF and local rescue team conducted a search with the help of heavy machineries and they cleared the mud which had completely buried the house. They found Gilbert’s body which was said to be in a decomposing state.
