Mangaluru, Aug 31: Child safety continues to be one of the most important issues for addressal. With the aim of spreading awareness about 'Abuse and Safety' among young children, a single day workshop named 'Ten Nine Eight (1098)' will be conducted by St Aloysius College for students of lower and higher primary at Government Higher Primary School Kapikad, here, on September 1 from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm.

The event is initiated by the final year students of Journalism, St Aloysius College (autonomous), Mangaluru as part of their academic activities. Sessions will be handled by staff of Father Muller Medical College, in the city, namely Dr Roshni, Dr Daren Mascarenhas and medical social activist Jyothi Soans.

Sessions will focus on educating children about good and bad touches, understanding and reacting to abuse and safety tips. Visual presentations and fun activities will be used to make learning easy and effective.

About St Aloysius College (autonomous), Mangaluru

St Aloysius College is a one hundred and thirty eight year old institution that has trained thousands of men and women in various fields and presented them to the nation. About the department of Journalism

The department of Journalism of St Aloysius College was established in 1997. It aims to make students adept at film making, newspaper making, radio programmes and television bulletins which help them learn allied subjects like writing for media, media management, communication etc in a better way. It recognizes media as a potent weapon which can be used to fuel the growth and allround development of society, if wielded correctly. In that regard, the department undertakes various initiatives to groom its students and make them ethically and morally abiding journalists and media persons.
