Modi to inaugurate Jharsuguda airport


Bhubaneswar, Aug 31 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on September 22 to inaugurate the Jharsuguda airport and lay the foundation stone for the revival of the Talcher fertilizer plant, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday.

"Talcher fertilizer plant, being revived with an investment of about Rs 13,000 crore, will be powered by coal gasification technology and will produce fertilizer from coal. Ammonia, Urea and Methanol will also be produced," said Pradhan.

Pradhan said the Prime Minister will inaugurate the second major airport of Odisha at Jharsuguda.

"The new airport will provide Western Odisha with seamless connectivity with the rest of the country," he added.

The Jharsuguda airport has been built with financial contribution of Rs 175 crore by the Centre and Rs 50 crore by the state government.
