Mangaluru, Sep 1: Union minister for statistics and programme implementation, D V Sadananda Gowda, symbolically inaugurated India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), Mangaluru branch here at Town Hall on Saturday, September 1.

Addressing the gathering D V Sadananda Gowda said, "This is a great move by the government that offers a wide range of products such as savings and current accounts, remittances and money transfer, direct benefit transfers, bill and utility payments. Indian Post Payments Bank has been set up under the department of posts with 100% equity."

"IPPB will have over one lac access point in next six months, for which 3 lac Dak Sevaks will be trained. Prime Minister Modi has given importance for the country's economic balance. India has a GDP rate of 82% compared to China's 63%. We have improved a lot in ranking to reach to 100 from 140," the minister added.

D V Sadananda Gowda released a special cover on Indian post payment bank (IPPB) also on the occasion.

India has traditionally been a cash-dominated economy. In order to evolve as a digital economy, it is critical to have points of presence where cash can be converted to digital money. Department of posts, with its huge network consisting of 1,55,000 post offices with 80% rural penetration, is critical in enabling a digital economy. IPPB is structured as a digital bank and will leverage DOP's physical infrastructure to provide last mile bank services. IPPB will also focus on creating a digital acceptance ecosystem to further promote a cashless economy.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyas Kamath and others were present.

The latest India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) can directly transfer money to any one, among the lowest in the pyramid! SECURELY and at the door.
Awesome idea, finally implemented, although complications due to Bangla’s getting a genuine aadhar , gas connection..etc (for just a few 100 rs) even in nodal Blr..etc will sustain for long, thanks to acute corruption embedded, while our authorities ignore the cancer.

Considering the massive, dormant army of salaried employees within the Post Dept, nothing else is most-urgently needed in our country, especially in our flood & and land-slide effected districts of Sullia & Kodagu. We urgently need more IPPB outlets!

Regretfully, Pumpwell Nalin, most-incompetent S Gowda, Ivan the never-minister, Khader the forever minister, R Rai the billionaire, Oily Moily, Oscar the Swiss, the list goes onb..our MLA/MPS and many others have become the poster boys!

Meanwhile, latest shocking reports say that opportunistic & canny smuggler’s (under the DIRECT patronage of politicians of all colours), have been 24/7 looting “vast amounts of rare, PRECIOUS TIMBER” (including mature TEAK) from the currently closed (to common-man!) Shiradi Ghats, thx to the landslide’s excuse & more-importantly a mutually-beneficial, working relationship with the cops & most-opportunistic exe/govt employees.

Just like Mumbai's "Dabbawalas," Indian Postal service is a phenomena in itself. It has a long history and tradition.
Innovative transformation has saved lakhs of its employees from losing their jobs; Now if they upgrade physical infrastructure, could attract more middle class savers along with senior citizens.

Indian posts are really good for saving schemes. I had one SB saving account long back... In the year 2000 my balance in the account dropped to 52/- rupees. I didn't visit post office for the next 16 years. Then I visited again along with my old passbook and I am surprised to see the balance amount of 119/- rupees. I was so happy 😊 for the moment!
What is the case if the account was with some commercial banks?
