Udupi: Janmashtami celebrated with devotion at Sri Krishna Math

Udupi, Sep 3: Birth anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna, better known with the name, 'Sri Krishna Janmashtami', was organized in an environment of devotion and celebration at Sri Krishna Math here on Sunday, September 2.

Palimar Math spiritual head, Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji, who is the current Paryaya Swamiji, who observed fast by not consuming food and water the whole day, performed Maha puja of Lord Sri Krishna along with offering of a lac of holy basis (Tulasi) twigs in the morning and again in the evening. At midnight he also offered Arghya (libation) to the Lord, following which the devotees who had congregated at the Math were also allowed to offer Arghya to Lord Sri Krishna.

The entire town, particularly the car street, was full of devotees, people donning different roles to celebrate the occasion and other people.

Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Adamaru Math celebrated the occasion by placing Lord Krishna's idol in a cradle and rocking it. Paryaya Swamiji along with the junior Swamiji of Adamaru Math, Sri Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji, initiated preparation of Laddu and Chakkuli for being offered to Lord Krishna on the occasion. Paryaya Swamiji also inaugurated the Bhajan programme arranged at Madhwa Mantapa by Krishna Mukhyaprana Seva Samiti.

On Sunday, about 175 members from 'Yuva Prerana' team from Mumbai who annually hold 'Alare Govinda' programme on the occasion of 'Vittal Pindi' being celebrated on September 3 here, met the Paryaya Swamiji and obtained blessings from him.

Tight security has been provided to the area where the Maths are located here. District superintendent of police, Laxman Nimbargi, said that the two contingents of Karnataka State Reserve Police and three contingents of armed district reserve police, which had been deployed for security on the occasion of polling, have been retained and deployed for security duty near Sri Krishna Math.

    Incidentally the toor dal and urid dal price hike three times ie. at Rs .200 per kg suddenly in May 2014 and remained till May] 2016 was a mistry unsolved...till now...
