Mangaluru, Sep 5: Some inmates of the prison who had been brought to the court complex for trial reportedly beat up a person named Ilyas because of pre-existing enmity in the court compound on Tuesday September 4.

A complaint in this connection has been registered in Bunder police station here.

The people accused in this case happen to be Faraz, Nawaz and Sohail, who are members of Ullal-based Target group, who are currently in judicial custody.

Ilyas, it is said, was in the prison relating to a case in the year 2014. At that time, members of Target group and some others had attacked Ilyas. Ilyas thereafter had filed complaint in Barke police station against the members of Target group.

Target group members had developed enmity against Ilyas on this count. Ilyas said that Target group members and some other accused together beat him up when he visited the district court complex for participating in a trial relating to a case.

The police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
