Shivamogga, Sep 5: BJP, which has registered impressive performance in the city corporation election here, is preparing to take over power.
The government, at the same time, has announced reservation criteria for all the urban local bodies which went into election. For the local city corporation, the post of the mayor has been earmarked for a woman candidate belonging to scheduled caste category. The post of the deputy mayor has been reserved for general category candidate.
Therefore, Latha Ganesh, a first time corporator from Gadikoppa ward of the corporation is set to become the mayor this time. Latha happens to be the wife of an auto rickshaw driver. She has been an ordinary worker of BJP.
