An overwhelming response was received for the contest. In the preliminary round, nearly 60 entries were selected for the second round. As many as 21 were selected for the third round.
From the shortlisted 21 entries, the esteemed judges picked the top three and consolation prizes winners.
Sujatha Andrade, well-known photographer of Udupi, Janardhan Kodavoor, Vijayavani daily photojournalist and Dayanand Kukkaje, photo journalist, Daijiworld Media were in the panel of judges. The top 60 entries were picked by Umesh Marpalli, photojournalist of Daijiworld Udupi.
Sharing her experience, Sujatha Andrade said, “There were so many entries and it was really a tough job to pick the best one. I felt like giving prizes to all, but still there are some guidelines to be followed and the best one won.”
Janardhan Kodavoor said, “Though Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated three days ago, seeing cute little Krishnas was a feast to eyes. There were so many entries and choosing the best one was a difficult task. We have tried to give a fair judgment following the criteria of the competition. Every child is beautiful to their parents, but we are here to choose the best in them. I congratulate the parents of the kids for dressing them up and sending their entries.”
Giving the suggestions and criteria for the competition, Dayanand Kukkaje said, “Ever child is equal to God. We cannot differentiate among children. Every child is a gem to their parents. We had received some photos which were edited, and due to this, the entries got rejected. So my suggestion is to avoid all these things and send the natural pictures of the children.”
Prabhu Enterprises, Santhekatte, Ansha Supermarket, Padubridri, Crystal Studio, Shirva, and Sai Ram Residency, Udupi, sponsored the first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively. Certificates and mementos will be handed over to the winners.
