Udupi, Sep 7: Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association, Udupi, hosted the seventh edition of state conference ‘CREDAI Statecon 2018’ on theme ‘Ease of doing Business’. The two day event organised by CREDAI Karnataka was inaugurated by Shankar Shastri, president CREDAI Karnataka at Basel Missionaries Memorial Auditorium, Chitpady, on Friday, September 7.

Past president of CREDAI and CMD Prestige Group Irfan Razack said CREDAI is one of the recognized institutions by the consumers, the government, by the officials and even the common man. “The construction sector is recognised as credible and respectable service. I believe every single person here is responsible for this contribution,” he said.

“Firstly we need to ensure that as members of CREDAI, we must work according to law and avoid disputes which will affect the association as well as one’s business. We need to keep doing our business in a credible manner. Today there are people who are engaged in construction business without any authorized certificates. People have a perception that builders do business in a shady manner, which needs to be changed. There is need to be bring in credibility and respectability to the profession. Actually we are building homes for needy people. It is a great service,” he said.

“Acquiring land adhering to all legal requirements, executing dream projects and satisfying the customers is not easy. We are in a noble profession and we need to project our work in proper way,” he stressed.

“Udupi is known for Sri Krishna temple, Vaishna devotees and eight nationalized banks. It is a home to the world class medical hospital at Manipal and students of 49 countries who are studying here. Moreover, Udupi city is 95% plastic free,” said Shankar Shastri, president CREDAI Karnataka.

“We are focusing on enhancing the brand image of CREDAI in social media. This will enable us to know about current trends and build friendly relationships with general public. Throughout India, CREDAI builders are constructing affordable houses to fulfil people’s dreams of owning homes. Lower and middle income groups are the beneficiaries of the initiatives by CREDAI and are taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of housing for all by 2022. CREDAI is doing CSR activities, getting wide appreciation across the nation,” said Siva Reddy, vice president, CREDAI.

“Karnataka is the fastest growing state and highest contributor for the country’s GDP growth. The main agenda of today’s conference is on the current affairs of the state and on theme ‘ease of doing business’ and also addressing challenges and finding solutions in the construction sector. The biggest drawback for builders is the delays in getting construction approvals. So the government authority must address these problems. It should bring single window mechanism and liberalization in the procedures in real estate business,” he added.

Jerry Vincent Dias, president of CREDAI Udupi, spoke on issues on obtaining sand in the district. “If the government is willing to help out, sand issues could be sorted out in two weeks. Sand is god’s gift for coastal districts and is a natural asset. Many lives depend on sand. The housing construction work has completely stopped because of lack of sand. Builders are facing difficulties to finish the under construction projects. There is unemployment in Karnataka because of unavailability of sand. The GST is becoming burden for all especially while purchasing flats. Though flats are available, customers are unable to purchase it. We need to fight to overcome these problems,” Dias said.
