Kasargod: Sexual harassment of minor, convict gets ten years RI, Rs 1 lac fine

Kasargod, Sep 8: The additional district sessions court here has awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a fine of one lac rupees to a person convicted of sexually harassing a minor girl.

The accused, who was found guilty, happens to be Sadashiva (45), a resident of Omassery, Karindalam.

A case under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act had been registered against him. He was charged with sexually harassing a nine-year-old girl within Nileshwar police station limits.

The incident had happened on February 15, 2015.

Through the judgement, the judge stated that the fine amount collected from the guilty should be paid to the girl. Nileshwar police had registered and investigated the case and filed charge sheet in the court. Additional public prosecutor, Prakash Ammannaya, had represented the prosecution in the case.
