Bahrain, Oct 25: Sandhya Pai, editor of Kannada weekly ‘Taranga’, and Satish Pai, managing director, Manipal Media Network, have been invited to the ‘Kannada Vaibhav’ programme to be held here on Friday November 14. The event is being organized by the Kannada Sangh of Bahrain.
Sandhya Pai is a veteran of Kannada journalism and the recipient of several awards including the coveted ‘Attimabbe,’ for her contributions. She has also bagged the prestigious ‘Aryabhata’ award for TV serials such as ‘Guptagamini’, ‘Yava Janmada Maitriyo’, and others through Manipal Entertainment Media Network Limited.
Manipal Media is among the top-ranking printing enterprises in the country and Satish Pai has also bagged many excellence awards in printing. The group also publishes ‘Udayavani’, the coastal region’s leading Kannada daily.
The Kannada Sangha of Bahrain has existed for the past 32 years. It has bagged the Karnataka state award during its silver jubilee celebration, for its contribution in promoting Kannada culture in Bahrain.
Dr Vittal Rao, an actor who debuted in the Kannada serial ‘Silli Lalli’ and actor Ravi Kumar whose movie ‘Payana’, is playing to packed theaters across Karnataka, will also attend the event.
Vidhushi Sahana Bhat, director, Natyanjali Centre, Sirsi, and internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste, will be a special invitee. She will give an hour long dance recital on Ramayana along with her troupe. Karnataka state minister for rural development Shobha Karandlaje, and Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary will also attend Kannada Vaibhav.
Indian ambassador Balakrishna Shetty, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Other dignitaries will also be invited to the event, Austin Santosh, president, Kannada Sangh, informed Daijiworld.com. The event will be held at Kerala Samajam Diamond Jubilee auditorium, which was inaugurated recently.
