Mangaluru: Ready to contest Lok Sabha polls next year - Janardhana Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (AM)

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Senior Congressman and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary on Sunday, September 9 said that he is willing to contest the Lok Sabha elections next year.

Addressing media, he said, “If my party high command gives me the ticket, I will definitely contest the Lok Sabha elections next year. I have absolutely no issues in contesting the polls,”

Slamming Congress for country-wide bandh call on September 10, he said, “It is wrong to call for bandh. Even the Supreme Court has said that the party or organisation which calls for bandh has to compensate the losses suffered by the country. Every party should think before calling for bandh,”

“Rising prices is a big problem. The government should take strong measures to curb the upward march of prices. But expecting the state or central government to reduce cess to help the general public is just a dream. That can never happen. Being a former finance minister myself, I tried to lower cess and later realised that it was wrong. We cannot do that. If we do that, how will the government run?” he questioned.

Speaking on illegal hoarding of grains and other necessary goods, he said, “People indulging in illegal hoarding of necessary goods should be put into jail. But right now, I do not see anyone doing that. We can expect Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do that. But only time will tell if he will really take that step,”

Probably the medication he is taking is affecting him. Dear Uncleji, kindly retire gracefully. You have played your game and have been out of form for 20 years, losing your wicket for a duck each time. Let new inform candidates take the fight forward.

Knowing you quite closely through close members of your family (since 1976-1977), I would like to see you winning. Honestly, Mangalore may not be your constituency. Try Bangalore, like Mr. Moiley. In 1980's I expected you to be Congress CM of Karnataka. It seems that your political fortunes have ended with Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi...

The biggest stumbling block for congress to revive its fortune in Mangalore constituency since 1991 for 25 years straight defeats should personally blamed on Mr. Janardhana Poojary.

JP is the BJP man in Congress. Under his tall leadership BJP has strengthened in his own constituency despite poor performance of sitting MP.

I thing it is time for Mr. Rahul Gandhi should personally step in and have consensus from other local leaders who have more potential of victory.

If Congress wanted to secure victroy in Mangalore they should speed up the NAMO Naresh case in RTI activist murder case. This will revive the Congress fortune in three Coastal districts and Malanadu.

JP last battle for one more term will be cake walk for BJP without any fight.

    Dear Poojariji
You are one of those rarest Congi whom we respect because irrespective of your castesim and Loose tongue... there is no doubt you are one of the most honest non corrupt leader from out region. You have stock to tour principles despite being associated with the dynasty slave mentality party.

However our humble request, spend your days with temple and charitable activities. We don't like to humiliate you again at this stage of your life. Let a new Dongi come this time, we will nip him in his bud that Undivided Dk , the most educated district in Karnataka will not contribute to any Dongi MP seat anymore.

Sir, first remove those dirty and unscientific speed breakers in front of your house. You are a common man just like me and i do not use speed breakers on the road in front of my house though my locality is 10times dangerous and crowded by vehicles.

Agree with Mr. Poojary regarding Bandh.

However, let us look at the data based on my shopping today in the market.
Tomato - Rs. 10 per kilo - This is inspite of high fuel price. If this does not stimulate farmer suicide what will? such is the obsession with low price.
Onion - Rs. 25 per kilo
Highest price paid was for lemons: Rs. 5 per piece.
So, it is not rising prices obviously but Congress desperate to make the most of high fuel price, which is the case in every country under the planet. GOI (neither Modi nor MM Singh) was right to let the international oil price decide the price of fuel. Ofcourse the nay sayers would argue about high taxes (both central and state) for high price of petrol. But, those who argue so, please move the supreme court saying, won't pay income tax as taxes are sources of Govt Income.
Bharath Bandh tomorrow is meaningless and ridiculous. If you are worried about poor, let him earn his daily bread tomorrow and not be burdened by politics.

    People,

Poojary started his political innings from Mangalore in 1977...Oscar in 1980....both are in their 80s....Poojary started loosing 1991 on wards and Oscar 1998 on wards...

I think both should be given tickets in 2019...and let people decide....I would suggest new symbol...'Handbag' ...instead of hand...

I really fail to understand what these two guys think about themselves...God created them be be MP's for ever???...
