Mangaluru: Shalom Prayer Ministry felicitates bishop Aloysius and Msgr Moras

Mangaluru, Sep 9: The third anniversary of Shalom Prayer Ministry was celebrated at the Bishop’s House on Sunday, September 9. Along with the celebration, Shalom Prayer Ministry also felicitated outgoing bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop-elect Dr Peter Paul Saldanha and vicar general of Mangaluru diocese, Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, who would be soon relieved of his duties.

Superior of Rose Mystica Convent Sr Juliana read the citation of bishop Aloysius, while HR DGM of MCF Chethan Mendonca read the citation presented to Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu.

During felicitation to Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, it was mentioned that he is a walking computer and encyclopaedia of the diocese who knew everything about diocese. He was praised for helping people of all walks of life.

Thanking for the felicitation, Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu said that Shalom Prayer Ministry has been doing an excellent job in getting prayer into people’s lives. He promised bishop-elect Dr Peter paul Saldanha that the prayer group will pray for him.

During felicitation of bishop it is mentioned that in spite of technology, internet, WhatsApp, mobile phone, luxuries etc faith of people of Mangaluru diocese towards God has increased because of keen interest shown by the bishop while in western countries it has decreased due to such technologies. Besides this, the number of churches in the diocese has also increased.

“Bishop has done great service to the society as a whole and hence leaders of all communities recognised his services and awarded him civic honour. A religious head getting civic honour is historic and it is the first time in the history of Mangaluru that a religious head being conferred with civic honour,” the recitation read in part.

Bishop Aloysius said, “If devotees have the faith, God will help them. Shalom Prayer Ministry has been showing the importance of prayer in families. They have become an example in the country for encouraging people to pray,”

Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said that daily prayers should be conducted at homes.

Advocate M P Noronha, Secretary of Mangaluru diocese, welcomed the gathering. Spiritual director of group Fr Manohar, Fr George Karamavalli, assistant general of Bethany Sr Lillis, Sr Lethishia and Fr Anil Alfred were present.

Earlier in the day, bishop Dr Aloysius concelebrated the Holy Mass. Msgr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha preached the homily.
