Statue of Unity to be unveiled by PM Modi on October 31, says Vijay Rupani

New Delhi, Sep 10 (NIE): The ‘Statue of Unity’, described by the Gujarat government as the world’s tallest, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, on the birth anniversary of India’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the BJP’s national executive meeting, Rupani said the statue with a height of 182 metres will be a symbol of the country’s unity and integrity.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had collected iron, soil and water from across the country to use them to build the statue in the state, a decision announced by Modi in 2013 when he was its chief minister.

In an apparent reference to the issue of Naxalism following the arrest of some activists for allegedly collaborating with Left ultras, Rupani said the statue will highlight Patel’s works for the country’s unity at a time when a few people are working to break it.

When Modi had made an announcement that his government would build the world’s tallest statue to commemorate Patel, opposition parties had termed it as “empty talk” but it has now been raised with world-class facilities, he said.

While the Congress had sidelined Patel, Modi has brought him and his works in front of the world, he claimed.

In August, Rupani and his number two, Nitin Patel, had inspected the progress of the project on Sadhu Bet. Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has got the tender of design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the statue at a cost of around Rs 2,980 crore.

Patel, a Congress leader, has become a revered figure for the BJP which has sought to project an ideological connect between its espousal of nationalism and his efforts to integrate hundreds of states and regions into India following its independence.

The Sardaar was a hero, is a hero and will remain a hero for us Indians. He does not need a statue built by Feku Sardar to prove that he was a hero. The fact that Pakistan is a failed state and Bangladesh becomes a breeding ground for terrorists when Khaleda Zia's party comes to power, shoes that partition was a blessing in disguise.

when he was CM ..Modi collected steel and iron from poor farmers in the name of statue ...when he became PM ..he gave the order to L&T for 2750 crores ..

L&T gave the order to china to make the statue since in india there is no foundry to cast the statue ...so in short ..our tax payers money went to china ..and the farmers iron and steel was sold to fund the BJP headquarters worth 1250 crores in delhi ...

irony is sardar was a congress leader and its only to please the patels in gujrat he built the statue ..now even the patels are against Modi ..so to fool the public BJP just looted in the name of sardar ..

Everyone knows the fact... Bajpards does not love Vallabh bhai Patel because he was anti-Sangh Parivar and wanted to put ban on Sangh. But, Nehru did not approve it!

Bajpards projecting Patel as their role model now, just to degrade Nehru stature and misguide people saying, Patel was hindered by Nehru and made injustice to him!
Just a tactic of spreading hatred !!!

Economy in a mess. There is distress across the nation as the poor do not know from where to get their next meal and the farmer does not know how to pay his next loan installment, but Mr Rupani is very busy with statues which have incurred hundreds of crores of rupees expenditure and require foreign Chinese labour to build. Real Acche din.

Anna ..enocomy will be mess as long as we are not matured enough in our thoughts and come out of slavery... Chinese labour is used for specialised skills which our labours lack due to lack of skill development over years... we are skilled only in loot which chiddu is running around with interim bail

The nation is seeing all the skill development in the past 4.5 years. The desperation is seen everywhere to loot as much as possible by May 2019. Blame the past and hide the theft and divert attention. Build useless statues and say we are developing and each day another farmer ends his life...…..Chidu will be harassed just to keep him tied up with court cases so that he does not find time to expose Jootley's and this government's misdeeds. This is an old BJP game, but unfortunately it is no longer a secret.
