BJP 'daydreaming' of 50-yr-rule, India can't become North Korea: Congress

New Delhi, Sep 11(PTI): The Congress Monday hit back at the BJP for "daydreaming" of staying in power for the next 50 years, saying India cannot become North Korea.

Referring to BJP president Amit Shah's statement that his party will rule for the next 50 years, the Congress said such claims can only be made by those who do not believe in democracy and want to crush the Constitution and its values.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala termed the claim made by Shah at the BJP national executive meeting as "Mungerilal ke Haseen Sapne" a famous TV serial in which the main character was always daydreaming.

"Those people who seek to end democracy, those who seek to snatch your vote, trample under their feet the country's Constitution and crush its values, only such arrogant and autocratic rulers can stake claims of ruling for 50 years together."

"But, we want to tell them that India cannot become North Korea as there are awakened journalists, awakened political parties and a very awakened public and it will not take time to bring you from power to the ground," he told reporters.

North Korea is known as an autocratic state where the ruling party has had a monopoly for decades.

Surjewala said those who do not believe in democracy and are not sure of getting votes, talk about such things.

Expressing confidence about his party coming back to power in 2019, Shah said Sunday his party will rule the country for the next 50 years.

He had also said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the 2019 polls on the basis of its performance and his assertion was not borne out of any arrogance.

    Dear Readers,

Most people of India are capable of thinking and are good leaders. This is proved by us Indians holding high positions in International business houses.

Request all fellow Indians to think and vote during the 2019 elections.
    1. Do we require development
    2. Forget the party, religion, cast creed and other issues that hamper development
    3. Do not fall for sweet talks
    4. Vote for candidates who serve the people and encourage overall development

Remember, the candidates we elect are our representatives who are required to cater to our well being and not show VIP culture after they are elected. It is their DUTY towards us citizens. Their salaries and perks are paid using OUR hard-earned money which we pay to the Government as TAXES.

As we pay these politicians, we need them to perform as per our expectations as well. Maybe they will not be able to perform to individual expectations, but I think if they work towards overall well-being of the nation - none of us will complain.

It is OUR CHOICE to elect the right candidate. At least once let us all chose wisely and be a role model for our future generations. We need to teach a lesson to all politicians who take us for a ride. Our future generation should learn to elect the right candidates who can make India a developed nation.

Let us make the change during the 2019 elections.

I'm gonna make a change.. For once in my life.. It's gonna feel real good.. Gonna make a difference.. Gonna make it right

I'm starting with the man in the mirror to make the world a better place.

Come on.. Just lift yourself.. Stand up.. You know it.. we gonna make that change

    Thank You...

The Kerala Model of Left Democratic Front and United Demcratic Front ruling Kerala alternatively for every five years should be the example to be followed at the centre so that Coalation Govts ensure a great deal of checks and Balances unlike the present dispensation of single party rule that has proved disastrous for our nation.

If Congress has ruled India for more than 5 Decades , what is wrong BJP Party President dreaming to beat Congress and continue their rule for 5 decades ????? Let us see the reality, where is Congress now ? Change the Leadership of Gandhi clan (just like North Korean Dictator Kim Jong) then they may have chance, with a rider, with the help of Regional Parties.
