Karkala, Sep 11: Gothenburg University, Sweden is a very reputed University that has produced Nobel laurettes and several medical innovations that have entered clinical practice.

On Aug 21, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Nitte (Deemed to be University) and Gothenburg University. There is already history of collaboration between the two Universities and Nitte University is implementing joint research projects funded by the Swedish Research Council.

A delegation from Nitte University led by Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, vice-chancellor, Dr Iddya Karunasagar, senior director, International Relations and Dr Indrani Karunasagar, director, R&D visited Gothenburg University, particularly Sahlgrenska Academy which hosts six institutes in the area of health sciences during August 21 to 24.

Gothnburg University was represented by Dr Henrick Sjovall, head of Medical School, Dr Rune Andersson, head of Infectious Disease Group, Dr Annelie Hyllner, head of Medical Education Unit, Dr Anna Godhe, professor of Marine Sciences, Dr Per Knutsson, Centre for Global Health Studies in Gothenburg University, Prof Perhall, head of Marine Science, and Prof Lena Gipperth, director, Center for Sea and Society.
