Kuwait, Oct 27: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), a premier and leading Mangalorean association in Kuwait is pleased to announce various annual awards and competitions for the year 2008.

Merit scholarship awards and Excellence in Extra Curricular activities awards for members’ children would be presented during the “KCWA Christmas Party 08” to be celebrated on December 5 at Carmel School. Christmas competitions will also be held on the same day from 3:30 pm onwards. Details of awards and competitions are as follows;

Merit Scholarships and Excellence Awards:

1.“Mrs Mabel & Mr Sam Alphonso Merit Scholarship Award” for Academic Excellence in X standard in Kuwait

2. “Mrs & Mr Lawrence D’Souza Merit Scholarship Award” for Academic Excellence in XII standard in Kuwait

3.“Mrs & Mr P V Saldanha Merit Scholarship Award” for Academic Excellence in X standard in India

4.“Spinns Confectionery Excellence Award” for Excellence in Extra Curricular Activities

Christmas Competitions:

I Solo Fancy Dress Competition:
for children of age group 3-8 years (born in or after 2000)

II Solo dance competition:
for children of age group 9-12 years (born in or after 1996 and in or before 1999) 

III Solo Traditional Competition:
for children of age group 13-19 years (born in or after 1989 and in or before 1995)

IV Couple Dance Competition:
for member, spouse or people above 19 years (born in or before 1988)

All contests are open ONLY to KCWA members, spouse and their children.

KCWA Cup 2008 – Volleyball, Throwball and Cricket:

Volleyball (for men) and throwball (for women) will be held on Friday November 7  at the American International School, Maidan Hawally from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and is open to all Kannadigas (people of Karnataka origin residing in Kuwait). Last date for registration of teams is October 31, 2008.

Cricket Tournament (for men) will be held on Friday November 21, 2008 at Ahmadi Cricket Ground (opposite to Our Lady of Arabia Church) from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm and is open ONLY to KCWA members, spouse and members’ children. Last date for registration of teams is  November 15, 2008.
