10 Booked for Lynching UP Man on Mumbai Train

TNN

New Delhi, Oct 29: Government railway police have registered a case of rioting and murder against 10 to 12 unknown people a day after a 25-year-old labourer from Uttar Pradesh was lynched on a Mumbai local train. Sketches of the assailants are being drawn based on witness accounts.

The Centre has demanded a probe into the incident with minister of state for home Shakeel Ahmed writing to the Maharashtra government to begin investigations. "We have asked the state govt to give a detailed report on the incident of lynching of a Uttar Pradesh labourer in Mumbai," he said.

A post-mortem report has revealed that Dharamdev Rai, a resident of Gauri Ghat in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, died of a punctured liver after being reportedly attacked by Marathi-speaking men.

"We have filed a case of rioting and murder against 10 to 12 unknown persons at the Karjat railway police station," A K Sharma, commissioner of the government railway police, said. "Some persons have been brought in for questioning at Karjat police station but no arrests have been made yet in the case," he added.

The Maharashtra government has ordered a high level probe into the lynching even as Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati wrote to the home ministry demanding Central intervention, Times Now reports. She has also written to her Maharashtra counterpart Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh has condemned today’s attack and the recent shooting of Rahul Raj inside a BEST bus. "Raj Thackeray is nothing more than a criminal. He wants to outdo his uncle Bal Thackeray. There is competition between these two outfits and others are suffering..." he said.

Railway police commissioner Sharma has told TOI that Rai, who suffered no external injuries, had boarded a Mumbai-bound train at Khopoli station along with fellow workers Veerendra Ramgopal Rai, Satyaprakash Kaushal Rai and Shivkumar Verma who worked at the same factory in Khopoli. They were all heading back to Uttar Pradesh and were scheduled to board the Kushinagar express from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at Kurla.

"The four north Indians were punched and kicked by the group. They alighted at Badlapur station where Rai was admitted to Dubey Hospital. He died two to three hours after his admission to the hospital," the commissioner said.

Asked if it was a hate attack, Sharma said: "The three who were accompanying Rai have said that the attackers were all speaking Marathi."

Verma told a private television channel that he and his three colleagues were quizzed by fellow passengers when they boarded the local train at 1.55pm with suitcases. "When the Marathi-speaking youths learnt that we were going to UP, they taunted us and angrily told us not to return. When we protested, we were humiliated and beaten up by the group which got off the train at Karjat station," he said.

After the attackers left, one of Rai’s colleagues rung up the Railway Protection Force (RPF) control number displayed inside the train. RPF officials then boarded the train at Badlapur and Rai was rushed to hospital.

RSS is the father of Shiv Sena and grand father of MNS. 'Hate campaign'aganist a particular community is the characterstics of Fascism imported by RSS from Mussolin(Italy}. Now the father, son and grandson are using it to serve their own sectarian interest. That is why RSS and BJP leaders are not only silent, but also enjoying the attacks and killings. If any body is serious about solving the problem, she/he should catch the father along with son and grandson. We must understand how these fascists are butchering Muslims and Christians and Shiv Sena are strongest ally of RSS and BJP in these genocidal campaigns. Let us protest all these self-seeking parties and individuals.

I am not much surprised over how police acts in our country. Everything we seek to find behind such acts has deeper root. The very first truth about us indians is that we are the scared most people in the world. Second next thing is we live by poor objectives. For instance if the police had better judgement, courage and objective behind saving people of the hijacked bus they could have tried something else. But no, we just want to fulfill something else behing anything we do. Anyways as far as Marathis and north indian or biharis are concerned, this should have not happened, I sincerely say this should have not happened.Biahris are not low graded people. The village I belong to in Bihar has got at least two IAS or IPS from every home. We go out and server in other states, other cities. And how come all of sudden all marathis are taking credit of what Maharashtra is today. The point is if a person is killed then its not a real issue but if a comunity is insulted and people's pride is invasioned even by slaping one person from the comunity and if the people of MAharashtra have supproted that , they didnt come out to oppose what happened on last tw ooccasions with Biharis then its a much bigger issue than you and I can even imagine. Nobody should forget that everybody has to pay price for what he is responsible and there is no workaround that. Its going to get ugly.

India is likey to break its strength . It is very strange that a single man Mr. Raj thakre could make this possible. His effort in politics is not less than that of BRITISH "RAJ". DIVIDE AND RULE: IS THERE ANY PERSON TO STOP MR . RAJ.

Whatever happening in Maharastra is not fare for good society. MAharastra Government should take an stringent action against culprit. There is nothing enough to condemn. Day by Day situation has been deterioated in Maharastra and Government are saying that everything is fine. Again by again North Indian are being targeted. One thing has been clear that not only Raj Thakery but also Maharastra Government is responsible for that. People of India has fundamental right to move anywhere in the country. So who is Raj thakery to stop anyone to move in Maharastra. I would like to appeal from central government to intervene the situation in Maharastra and take initiation to stop such this fatal situation. Otherwise situation gradually may be spread all over the country. We all are Indian. Unity is our strength. So please stop such this frightful and horrible activities as soon as possible. There is a lot of problem in our country that we all need to fight together. Please dont go on the way that we got after a huge loss and sacrified.

Its always been easy to spread love than sharing love among people. I really feel sorry for patriots freedom fighters who have done lot of sacrifices and even lost their live witha dream of one india. British didn't do anything innovative by ruling india with divide and rule policy. We were and we are actually 565 princely states (as left by british) despite of being one India. This secret is reinvented by time and over again by politicians like Raj Thakre. My cousin brother is a army personel and he use to defend our country at border. He is their stading for our country as a whole not for punjab or maharastra or UP. But i consider his being ignorant of the fact that we are divided in India as north indian South indian, UP Bihar, maharatsra, TN, AP .... I am saying this because its actually not politicians like thakre its because of we people A COMMON MAN- a marathi manoos supports people like him. I am actually sorry for these people who get fooled over and over again by people like thakre.... Mumbai has ahistory of being rules and fooled by such people earlier it was Bal thakre now its raj thakre... I think its been always easy to sell hatred than sharing love. we have lot of issues beforehand and mind they are much much more important than this issue but its easy to get creating riot and gooning around in the city getting people clean a park or any such constructive activity. We have 4 metro politan cities and if we count hyderabad, ahmedabad, bangalore and chandigarh are net big cities.... But we have 29 states........ so 29 minus 8 becomes 21 right. If we limit the opportunities of getting jobs only to home state people. And i think most of us would agree that there more opporutinities available for people in metros than other cities. So where would the people from rest of 21 states would go for jobs. Punjab being granery of India would say that we will not supply our produce to maharastra as they are not providimg jobs to us (that is what maharastra produce). or jharkhand says we will not give minerals to other states. How will india survive??? is this the dream envisioned by our freedom fighters? or we are not concerned with their dreams because its been long 60 years... now its been along time ... those dreams are not true in new modern society. but at the same time i come across news in newspaer stating that its few maharastrian family who helped north indian students to escape and provided shelter from MNS goons. So, it just let my faith still survive in indian social fabric. We are still have our Indianess alive which is above regionalism , casteism and religious hatred. We are secular democratic state by choice not by force and its our own citizen who for their personal gains try to spread hatred. Now it is Raj Thakre who is trying to become Bhindarawale of maharsatra and congress government who is again helping him grow indira gandhi did with bhindarwale. With my faith alive indian unity in diversity

This is rdiculous, if Marathi's are doing this in Maharshtra even they could be targeted in other state, but this is not solution. Raj Thakrey should think first that he is an Indian Marathi, and people do not require visa to go to work in Mumbai.he is all doing because of votes, but this is becoming a dangerous situation, Central Government should take a serious action on this, doesn't matter if they have their own congress government there.
