Old woman dies as son takes hours to make Ayushman card

Ranchi, Sep 25 (IANS): An elderly woman suffering from diarrhoea died in Jamshedpur on Monday even as the doctors asked her son to bring the recently launched Ayushman card, a part of Centre's flagship healthcare plan.

Local media reports said on Tuesday, Bhaktu Rabidas, son of 80-year-old Reeta Devi, had brought her mother for treatment at MGM Hospital Jamshedpur on Monday. The report quoting Rabidas on Tuersday said he was asked by the doctors to first bring the Ayushman card.

He took around six hours to get the card made. When he reached back to be with his mother, he found she was already dead, the report said.

Rabidas reportedly tore off the card and took the body back to his village, the report added.

The Ayushman Bharat-Jan Arogya scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday from Ranchi.

"The patient should be treated first. If the woman has died due to anyone's negligence, then action would be taken," MGM Deputy Superintendent, Dr Nakul Chaudhary, was quoted as saying in the local media.

    RIP Mrs. Reeta Devi!

Ayushman card was not meant to save you, it is only to be used by the goberment to debit the Indian taxpayers' kitty.

Very sad case.I can only give right to the son who tore off the card.In India it is the first thing what they ask from you, however the patient in bad condition is money /card before you start to treat. Is this what they studied during their medicine stdy?Where is the humanity, love to the human ,patient? Is money come as first ,then patient?second when the mother of this particular person was so sick, they should have attended to patient without asking her card.card could have presented later.I really feel with him.Heartfelt sympathy to the son .may her soul rest in peace. The only question is why he/they didnt have the card before?

Better link it with ration card rather people standing in queue and wasting their precious time.

Hundreds and thousands of scheme have been thrown to people, the same people know how difficult its to get things done.

We not Vvip, CM, Minister of state or son of former pm/mla/mp such that a phone call can get things in blink of an eye.

Govt service z hell until uv gone through it, hundred of document to be furnished and the formalities have no end, people are fed up of new schemes.
