Mangaluru: Fire at shops on GHS Road, no casualties

Mangaluru, Sep 27: Fire erupted at a shop on Ganapati High School (GHS) Road in city on Thursday, September 27. All the staff and customers of the shops are safe.

Kamath and Co and Selection Centre are the two shops affected.

Fire Brigade from Pandeshwar arrived at the spot and the fire fighters are trying to extinguish the fire.

Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Uma Prashanth, Mayor Bhaskar Moily and other corporators visited the place.



Short circuit is said to be the reason for the fire.

    Widening of roads and no foot path for commuters..... very conjusted road... modification and alteration needs to take care of many safety measures.... that too a this is a old building and needs proper supervision while doing electrical and carpentory works.... A bad day for these business man.... Administration also should note these things while Mangalore is planning for SMART CITY...

    The MCC cannot broaden the road at GHS, the corporation should aquire land and broaden the road specially this road. The corporation only broadening roads only at residential areas by acquiring land of land owners. No proper parking on this road and difficult for pedestrians to walk on this road.

    Do you have any property ther to widen the road? Free advice is not required. Just see at Milagres church surroundings , statues are erected not to widened the road forever. No one willing to leave 1 inch of their land.

    Very true.... those who have enough land are really stubborn to give away for developments.... they bargain and finally get injuction from court..... Similar case in Mannagudda near Kudva's shop.... that person is not allowing to clear the land he owns ... so there is a prob.... Free advice is easy to give.... difficult to perform...

    Haneef ,West Africa this is India and democracy not Africa. Why have you bought the Church in this issue at least churches in India have their own parking for daily basis. I have spoken own residential areas in Mangalore.
