Udupi: Milagres School Kallianpur to host state level table tennis tournament from Oct 6 to 8

Udupi, Sep 28: Milagres English Medium School, Kallianpur, is one of the oldest English Medium schools in Udupi district. Thousands of students have studied and achieved highest positions in education as well as in sports arena. Many have represented themselves at state and national level competitions and have brought laurels in karate, table tennis and badminton.

This October, state level departmental table tennis tournament will witness participants from 30 districts and 2 clubs in the age group of 14 and 17 years (boys and girls). Nearly 1,200 students including officials, team managers, team coach and parents have to be given accommodation facilities.



The three day mega event begins with the grand procession from Santhekatte Junction at 3 pm to be flagged off by Janardhan Thonse, district president of Congress party. The formal inauguration will be at 4.30 pm. It will be presided over by Dr Jaiamala, district in-charge minister of Udupi, Raghupathi Bhat, MLA of Udupi, Dr Jerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi and other dignitaries.

LIC India and UPCL are the main sponsors of the event. A grand cultural evening is planned on October 7 at 4.30 pm with well known vocalists Prajot D'Sa, Gargi Shanbharay and others to grace the occasion.

The event will come to its close on October 8 with the valedictory function to graced by Priyanka Mary Francis, deputy commissioner of Udupi and Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA of Udupi.
