European authors interact with Delhi audiences over 'Chai Pe Charcha'


New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS): Noted authors from nine European Union (EU) member states and two non-EU states shared their views on literature at a "Chai Pe Charcha" event organised here.

BJP parliamentarian Meenakshi Lekhi and Lalit Kala Akademi chairman Uttam Pacharne were the Guests of Honour for this literature summit.

Lekhi shared her views on "the importance of cultural exchange among the nations", while Pacharne emphasised on the "importance of local languages and its heritage value".

The host, Ambassador from the delegation of EU to India Tomasz Kozlowski, said that the event was an excellent opportunity "to create interest and strengthen Indo - European cultural and literature ties".

The programme's highlight was "speak easy" by the participating authors, moderated by Amarendra Khatua. The authors shared their experiences of penning books.

The event on Thursday was organised by Chitra and Dhairya Foundation, which works on women empowerment and children development causes through cultural and educational programmes.
