Udupi, Sep 28: The mortal remains of Hazel Mathias was laid to rest at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva, on Friday, September 28. The funeral mass was attended by a large number of people who caught a last glimpse of Hazel.

Hazel was working in Al Miqua General Hospital run by health ministry of Saudi Arabia for the last 6 years before she committed suicide at her residential quarters on July 19. The husband and parents of Hazel received her body on September 27 at Bengaluru airport.

Saudi administration had retained the mortal remains of the deceased nurse for over two months citing investigation, technical reasons, non-availability of officials etc.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister, Lalaji R Mendon, MLA, Kaup, and Ivan D’Souza, MLC paid their last respects.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi presided over the funeral Mass, while Fr Denis D’Sa parish priest, and other priests were present.

What about the identity of the Saudi citizen responsible? We as citizens of India still don't know this guy.

Dosent Indian law require a post mortem in India even if the post mortem was conducted abroad. What does the forensic report say? Really sad to see this lady dead hope justice will be done. RIP.

Let's pray for the family during this difficult hours of sad moment. Please also pray for saudi people for god give them wisdom to respect human without bias and whatever happened to this women will never happen anyone there in saudi again. Holding someone dead body for 71 days is unforgiving and disturbing. Hope saudi will never hold anyone body this way for months. I feel very sad and disturbed to see family is received body after 71 days which is big crime saudi committed on this lady.

    Dear,

    Rest in peace,

If at all God can punish, let it be the harshest of all to your tormentor.
I pray for the family, who had to go through the pain and grief all this while.

Bestow us with humanity o Lord.
