Mangaluru: Demolition of old depleted building – shop owner objects

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Sep 29: A shop owner of a building located at lower car street opposed the demolition of the building owned by Ibrahim which was on the verge of collapsing.

The owner of the printing press named ‘Jaya Printers’ managed to postpone the demolition after signing a bond. The incident happened on Saturday, September 29.

Five years back Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) had issued a notice to owner Ibrahim for the demolition of the mentioned two-storey building as it was in a pathetic condition and was about to collapse. But he ignored the notice. But localities repeatedly complained about this building.

Keeping all these things in mind, MCC issued a strict notice to the building owners to clear the place before the demolition. Two shops owned by Mohammed Sharif and Muralidhar who used to operate from the building closed their shops within 24 hours after they received the notice.

On September 29, after owner Ibrahim himself came forward to demolish the building. As other shop vendors had already left the place, only Jaya Printers shop that is situated at lower basement had to vacate. But the owner did not clear the place and objected to the demolition move.

When the situation was going out of control, police had to intervene.

A bond was signed in which the owner of the Jaya Printers was allowed to run his shop till December 2018. If anything goes wrong before that the owner of Jaya Printers will be held responsible, the bond reads.

While commenting you should be careful.... KICK HIM OUT.... show our arrogant thought.... there might be a Aged person who runs that business since very long time.... unable to go for a alternative or no option to close at this stage..... Are you for kicking him .... remember your grand pa or any elderly person in your family who faces similar situation.... so... be calm.... Kicking is not the solution... COME to bibi alabi road, kudroli, Kandatpalli and see how houses are built .... no boundary... just adjascent to their main door.... road is connected.... what do you say... no one gave notice for widening nor any mla/corporator interested to do ...
