Mangaluru: Thanvitha, Sanjay of SAC selected to prestigious Rashtriya Thal Sainik Camp

Mangaluru, Oct 1: Thanvitha of St Aloysius College (autonomous), NCC Army wing got selected to the prestigious Rashtriya Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) which was held at Delhi and other places in India from August 27 to September 28, while Cdt Sanjay is the only boy representing Dakshina Kannada out of the 24 boys selected from all over Karnataka state.

They were selected after a rigorous training in six different camps of two months duration held at various locations. Participation in Thal Sainik Camp helps cadets join defense under direct entry scheme. Also participation in TSC enables cadets to use the status under officer – Golden Rank. The cadets were ably guided by Col Manoj V U - commanding officer, Lt Col Grecian Sequeira – administrative officer, both of 18 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Mangaluru.

At college level the cadets were encouraged by principal Fr Dr Praveen Martis S J and Lt Shakin Raj - associate NCC officer of army wing. The college army wing has 104 cadets on roll and they are trained for NCC B and C certificate exams by giving training during weekend parades. Cadets qualifying and excelling in these exams apply under NCC quota when they pursue higher studies or jobs related to defense.
