'Rafale will be game-changer when it comes to the subcontinent': IAF chief

New Delhi, Oct 3(PTI): Amid the raging row over the Rafale fighter jet, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa Wednesday said the deal was a "good package" and the aircraft will be a "game-changer" for the subcontinent.

Dassault Aviation selected the offset partner and the government and Indian Air Force had no role in it, he told reporters.

"Rafale is a good aircraft. It will be game-changer when it comes to the subcontinent," he said at a press conference.

"We have got a good package, got a lot of advantages in Rafale deal," the air chief said.

The opposition led by the Congress has been accusing the government of benefitting Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence Ltd from the Rafale deal. The BJP has dismissed all the allegations as false.

The Rafale controversy took a new turn last month after Francois Hollande, who was French president when the Rs 58,000 crore deal was announced, was quoted as saying by French publication Mediapart that France was given "no choice" on selection of the Indian partner for Dassault.

The Indian government proposed the name of Reliance as offset partner for the French aerospace giant, he said.

PM Modi had announced the procurement of 36 Rafale fighters after holding talks with Hollande on April 10, 2015, in Paris.

It’s worth noting that when PM Modi was agreeing the deal on Rafale, Parrikar was busy inaugurating a mobile fish stall in his home state in Goa.

Air Chief Marshal (Retid) Fali Homi Major had said, “To me just 36 Rafales do not make too much of sense. But, my gut feeling is and I am sure the present Air Force hierarchy, the ministry of defence and the government of India are fully aware that these 36 won’t be enough…Because 36 Rafales will amount to just two Squadrons.”

Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Pradeep Naik too agreed and said, “Throughout the statements made by the defence minister, the emphasis is on cost and not necessarily the numbers…126 was the number based on our initial assessment how much we require. Today, the Air Force has 34 Squadrons. Our requirement is 45 Squadrons if you want two front contingency.”

Modi put India in a great disadvantage, but also spoiled the opportunity to get access to latest technologies related to combat aircraft manufacturing and a critical radar system. If it was not for serving his personal interests to cater to his friends, why did Modi squander such a golden opportunity needs to be explained and the prime minister is answerable to the country.

The higher cost India paying France is a separate issue which everyone is speaking now. When Qatar and Egypt paying approximately 172.75 million euros per Rafale, whereas India is paying a whopping 226 million euros per unit. When people argue that the additional cost (other than for weapons) for Indian specifications increased the cost, they are fooling themselves and others. There is no separate price available. Hence taken the average of the total deal value of both countries put together. Their orders are for 24 units each.
The Centre’s Narendra Modi government was indulging in an unforgivable game of compromising ‘National Interests’ and ‘National Security’.

Congress and UPA knew that almost 10years back, so they worked hard for it along with IAF.

Modi came to power to make that hard work go waste, to help his friend Anil Ambani, whose companies are in deep debt with banks. Experience, hard work or sincerity does not count, when boss works on favoritism. Everything can be compromised. Simple.

Very sad to know that even our most trusted military is loosing its credibility in the eyes of Indian citizens because of these kind of spineless, puppet or rather shall we say corrupt military officers who give baseless statements openly. The whole India knows how the deal happened to benefit some bankrupt businessman who has crores of rupees debt and who is ready to flee from the country anytime. The only reason why more & more of our Indian soldiers are dying at the border in recent years because of these puppet military officers who are ready to compromise on our nations security for their selfish benefit.
When this useless government who disclosed the secret military operations carried out by our Armed forces by celebrating the surgical strike anniversary openly and releasing videos thus by exposing our special forces functioning and strategy visible to our enemies for their selfish motto to cover up their failures of development, but none of the present military chief of staff objected. This was criticized by only ex military officers who considered this as highest breach of security and as per them such kind of secret operations were never disclosed keeping the nations security in mind.
Now it is difficult to trust these top military officers who have been given the responsibility of our countries safety and security.

All are trying to defend and protect Modi Saab.
No one wants to prove the secret deal and the documentation and other information as demanded by the opposition. Congress never questioned as airworthiness and capabilities of the fighter jet but make everything black & white (transparency) that is not agreed by PM/BJP leader giving unwanted excuses.

Rafael deal is a Govt to Govt deal
All official documents are official secrets of Govt .All ministers have taken oath of secrecy
In govt the govt deal there is no place for corruption.
If Congress feels any corruption go to court like Dr Swamy went to court in 2 G case
    National herald case etc
Remember Dr Swamy went to court when UPA was in power and got the 2 G licensed cancelled
