Karkala, Oct 4: A public protest demonstration will be held on October 7 against the proposed creation of tollgate at Belman. This decision was taken at a meeting held at the auditorium of Ujala Hotel, Belman on the evening of Wednesday October 3 in which over 500 residents of Belman and surrounding areas participated.

The meeting also decided to fight against the tollgate under the leadership of Suhas Hegde of Nandalike Chavadi Aramane. Suhas pledged on this occasion to honestly fight for the welfare of the people of the region apolitically, without caste and religious bias, and without falling to the lures which might come his way.

Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar

Suhas Hegde had taken leadership of the protest launched against the Golden Corridor Project backed with the aim of usurping of land, which had been floated five years ago. He had successfully thwarted the scheme with public support then. The participants of the said meeting unanimously chose him for leading them in the fight against the tollgate. Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar, and Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandipani Sadhanashram have pledged support to this fight.

BJP has decided to hold protest against the tollgate under the banner of BJP Shakthi Kendra, Belman on Friday October 5. The meeting convened in this respect on Wednesday was attended by MLA, Sunil Kumar, zilla panchayat member, Reshma Uday Shetty, Uday Shetty Inna, former president of taluk panchayat, Jayaram Salian, and others.

I dont see any reason why people from belman village should not succeed again. In fact they have shown their unity in their protest against golden corridor project. When non-politicians have taken the lead there is always success.

we cannt expect much from politicians and they might be there to take the credit but unity of the people will make a diference

Hats up N. Suhasanna & your team for your initiative towards society. But beginning itself protest were splitted in two groups as one is BJP & Suhasanna team. Our main intension to stop tollgate in Belman or any other rural areas to avoid more financial burden on daily wages people as well as on development era... Please don't involve dirty politics in must needed protest, because Politian's were sold easily & best example we can see in Nandikoor power project.
Also all religious leaders stood with this protest to give the message to government that, our first priority is our mother land/society & secondary is religion/political party's, etc...
Yesterday I heard the motivating words of Suhasanna by taking oath of true fight against tollgate. Please learn Congress, BJP & all political parties from Suhasanna to become good Shepard. Even we are out of country, we will support you Suhasanna by social media.
