Bengaluru, Oct 6: In a dramatic development, family members of top officials whose houses were raided by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday October 5 morning, threw down suitcases containing gold and cash. However, this did not help them as the raiding teams caught hold of these bags.

ACB officials raided houses and offices of N G Gowdayya, working as chief engineer of Bangalore Development Authority and chief development officer of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, T R Swamy. The raids yielded huge amount of cash, gold ornaments and other assets, it is said.

Two ACB teams led by its inspector general of police, Chandrashekhar, raided eight spots belonging to the two officials including offices and residences at 6 am on Friday. The apartment owned by T R Swamy in Mantri Greens apartment in Malleshwaram, office at Khanija Bhavan, and Gowdayya's house in Basaveshwara Nagara, and office were among the spots raided. A team also raided the residence of Gowdayya's relative residing in Gubbi taluk, Tumakuru district, identified as Ramalinge Gowda, simultaneously.

During the raids, Swamy is said to have tossed a bag containing cash, gold ornaments and documents, down from his apartment. Swamy's sister, who lives in the 16th floor of the same building too threw a bag containing cash and gold. The officials recovered huge amount of cash in the denominations of Rs 2,000 and 500. In addition, they also found bags containing cash stashed away inside two cars found from the parking area of the apartment.

The officials reportedly could lay their hands on documents pertaining to two houses, eight house sites, 14 flats, three kilograms of gold ornaments, ten kg silver, three cars, three two-wheelers, Rs 75 lac in cash, deposits, Rs 4.5 kg gold in Ramalinge Gowda's residence, deposits worth Rs 30 lacs in different banks in respect of Gowdayya.

In respect of Swamy, the officials found documents pertaining eight houses in the names of family members, ten house sites, ten acres of agricultural land, 1.6 kg gold, three cars and Rs 4.52 crore in cash.
