Mangaluru: St Aloysius High School to host Mysore zonal basketball tourney from Oct 9 to 11

Mangaluru, Oct 6: St Aloysius High School, one of the co-institutions of St Aloysius Educational Institutions, the city's prestigious education center will host a Mysore zonal basketball tourney from October 9 to 11 for students of age group 14 to 17.

Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat and public education departmen are the organisers of the event.

Releasing the logo of the tournament, Fr Gerald Furthado, principal, St Aloysius High School said, "The tourney will be be held at St Aloysius Gonzaga ground and we are expecting around 400 students from 35 schools. The institution will provide accommodation for all the players and their trainers. Winners and runner up teams get specially designed trophies while the best performers will get individual trophies. The match will be day and night. A special cultural event based on the culture of
Tulunadu will be organised. The actors from cineworld and other fields will grace the tournament with their star appearance. All sport lovers and sport supporters are welcomed to the tournament which is the first in the district."

Mahesh Kallachu, PTA, vice president said, "All the arrangements are made for the tournament which will be the best. We are trying to give an international touch to this event and have designed a special logo for the tournament called 'Pili' which symbolizes our culture and aggressiveness for success. Students from eight districts will participate in the tournament."

Gopal Krishna S, vice principal, Noel Menezes, sports co-ordinator and John were present.
