Davanagere: KSRTC driver who allowed monkey to ‘drive’ bus is likely to lose his job

Daijiworld Media Network – Davanagere (EP)

Davanagere, Oct 6: Bus driver Prakash from KSRTC Davanagere division is in trouble for allowing a gray langur to ‘perform’ his work.

The gray langur is seen sitting comfortably on the steering wheel while Prakash is giving control of the steering wheel to it even while changing gears.

The incident happened on October 1 when the bus was on its way from Davanagere to Bharamasagara.

A KSRTC official has said that the driver has been relieved from duty. The divisional security inspector has been asked to conduct an enquiry and submit a report. The driver is likely to face suspension.

The animal belonged to a teacher who travels regularly in the bus accompanied by it. The langur which apparently ‘thought’ of driving the bus, climbed on the steering wheel and refused to leave it for about ten minutes.

Surprisingly no passengers submitted a written complaint about it.

KSRTC management, following outcries from people after the video went viral, said that the driver will be given a desk job in place of driver’s job if his negligence is proved.

Please observe that the langur is seated on steering wheel. THE LANGUR IS NOT DRIVING, in fact he is enjoying the steering revolving. Don't be idiots.

What's wrong with you people? Are you mad? The langoor is just sitting on the steering wheel. It's not driving the bus. The driver is steering the wheel. Poor driver lost his job for your madness.

It is time KSRTC take decision to punish both the Driver and Conductor for this act. Let them be warned severely and let it be strong deterrent for others not to act like this. It is easy for the people to comment saying not to take action. One fine morning the Drivers and the conductors will allow their INEXPERIENCED close friend, MAY BE THEIR GIRL FRIENDS to drive a vehicle and endangered the lives of the people. What do you say about this?
I drive a vehicle including a Four Wheeler and TWO WHEELER but that does not mean that I should be allowed to drive the heavy vehicle without proper license, as I do not have Heavy Vehicle license. EASY TO SAY AND COMMENT but let us be realistic. IF THE ACCIDENT HAD TAKEN PLACE, WE WOULD HAVE MADE hue and cry and many lives would have lost.
Once I was travelling along with my colleague from UDUPI to Mangalore by VISHAL TRAVELS private bus in the year 2000 and the Driver was very rash as he was about to involve in an accident with a Fish loaded lorry as I was seated on the window side . I immediately got from my seat and instructed the Driver and the Conductor to stop the bus and I was about to call the POLICE and this happened at YERMAL-PADUBIDRI and the Driver had slowed down the vehicle till we reached Mangalore .
THE KSRTC and Public transport Vehicle DRIVERS SHOULD HAVE HAVE SOME DISCIPLINE IN THEIR LIVES. JAI HIND.

Now KSRTC should understand the situation.Simply by seeing a video ,not to cancel his job as driver .If he has not any wrong points tillnow was a good driver, let him be theree.Afterall the lady brought the monkey and was not to get off from drivers side.WE know when monkeys get wild, can happen anything.Thats why he let him there for few minutes.Afterall driver had full control with brake ,gears and steering.when brake is controlled ,even monkey can also not do anything.Thatswhy let him there where he should be.So people dont get excited .understand drivers situation also.Of course he did once ,next I am sure he wont.first punish the person who brought the monkey .Hope this case ends happy without any problem .

First of all driver did not allow the monkey to drive bus as reported. Secondly no passenger has filed a complaint. Driver is driving the bus but suddenly monkey came and started playing with steering still driver managed to control the bus without panicking. He is a great driver. Ksrtc please promote him.

As long as the bus driver is on "DRIVERS SEAT" and has full control of the bus his one hand is on the steering wheel and his left hand is on the gear rod. No need to punish him. If KSRTC is so concerned then why they didn't put full covered fence to the drivers place. If the Monkey was on Drivers seat, off course driver must be terminated.

We should train them (Monkeys) in all skilled jobs like driving, operating machines, Computer Programming,Engineering, Medicine, Atomic Physics, Surgery,Music and more.......and then we should send them all over the world with Passport and Work Visas ...to gulf, Europe, US, Canada, Australia everywhere ....So they can bring foreign exchange much more than what we import...So 1 $ will be 1 Rs...

In fact we should open IIT , IIM, IIS, for them...so we educate smartest monkeys in the world...

Lawfully driver is at fault, therefore a month's pay cut and a warning letter should have been enough.

We are a emotional society and langur is as cute as any animal and has human like face. so the driver must have felt a sense of belonging. only difference is Monkeys don't have a rational decision making mind like we humans have, which is crucial for learning and decision making and for doing easy tasks like driving.

Religion is opium to society. In the work place, the employee should adhere to the rules, regulations laid down by the organization. Here the driver has failed to follow the rules, guidelines of the Company by allowed monkey on the steering and risking the passengers lives.

Only langur can save job of driver. Person who shot video should be punished first. Do you think these heavy drivers do not have control on there wheels. Langur just achnak enter into cabin. What one can do. If he start vehicle may it go...may be he think on that way. Spoiling people's livlihood is not at all entertained for small likes.
