Indian student from Andhra Pradesh killed in US

PTI

HYDERABAD, Nov 4: A woman student from Andhra Pradesh was found murdered in the US by unidentified persons in the fifth case of a young post-graduate  student from the state being killed under mysterious circumstances in that country in the last one year.

Arpana Jinaga (24), pursuing her MS degree at Seattle, was killed sometime on Friday evening (US time), family sources said here on Tuesday.

The tragedy came to light three days after the crime and an investigation has begun, they said. The motive for the murder was not immediately known.

Jinaga, who completed her engineering from a city-based private engineering college in 2005, was working as a software engineer and simultaneously pursuing MS. She is among the top-20 professionals of embedded systems in the world, the sources said.

Jinaga's father, B C Jinaga, is a professor with the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here and heads the School of Information Technology.

The murder of Jinaga comes close on the heels of a string of murders of students of Indian origin from Andhra Pradesh.

Soumya Reddy, a post-graduate student, was killed by an unidentified assailant in Chicago in September this year.

Another post-graduate medical student A Srinivas was found murdered in Pennsylvania in March while A Kirankumar and K Chandrasekhar Reddy, both PhD students, were shot dead at Louisiana University in December 2007.

Evil is everywhere...Do you lock your door when you are at home? Do you lock your door when you leave. Why? Because you are afraid of what a fellow Indian might do.

It is really sad that, our Indian students have been killed in USA. Our Government is sleeping. Govt. should take some action regarding this issue with USA. I totally condemn the comments of Ravi & Diana. Dear Ravi & Diana, try to be Human first. Don't bring communal colour in this issue. Aparna is an innocent girl and is been killed for no fault of her. It is very sad that she is been killed at this age. She not even started her life. God has given only one life to us, to live peacefully in this world. Let us not mis-use it.

Considering that five Indian students have been murdered in the U.S, it is the duty of the Central Government to take up the matter with their US counterpart, but they have done nothing concrete thus far. The same is true in matters of civil/communal rights and justice within India, including the recent assaults against north Indians in Maharashtra the brutal attacks on Christrians by members of the Bajrang Dal in Orissa, and the repeated desecration of Christian places and objects of worship in Karnataka. In short, the UPA Government has a poor record in protecting its citizens and their rights.

Preliminary investigations corroborate autopsy report.

City police spokesperson Jim Bove said front door of Arpana's apartment on Redmond Woodinville was forced open shattering the door jam. In the autopsy report, the cause of her death is listed as asphyxia due to ligature strangulation and the manner of death is homicide. I think the Indian govt. should ask all Indian students to reconsider their academic pursuits in the USA and ask them to move to safer places like UK or some other county. Why should we send our children to die in the USA? Indians are always peace loving, calm and peaceful, abiding by the law. Thats why they have always been at the receiving end.

Time for Indian govt to talk tough. When are we going to get tough and act tough? Our sailors are being held hostage in Somalia? Whats the govt doing? Nothing. If we can send a mission to the moon, why dont we use all that money for building some safe Indian missions for housing Indian students abroad or for buying warships to patrol the Gulf of Aden to safeguard Indian trade?

Needless to say and mourn this is being one of the cent percent tragedy. I agree fully with the comments passed by Nagesh Nayak and I too have the same feelings in our Indian Government. Departed Aparna is a poor young lady will be morned by many Indians and will be soon forgotten by paying her family a 'FEW LAC RUPEES' by way of MU-AABZA either by America or Indian Government. Last but not the least I must strech to say this. Atleast an Indian must think of America who is not a "FATHER" of our future super power loving country India. When we are going to learn this truth. God knows.

My deep sympaties to Aparna's loving sorrowful family in Andra. And I pray for Aparna's innocent soul to Rest In Peace (RIP) Amen. Many thanks for daijiworld media for a shocking coverage.
