Mangaluru, Oct 15: Anveshan 2018, an Ideathon to promote entrepreneurship was organized on October 13 at St Joseph Engineering College in collaboration with Eagle10 Ventures, Bengaluru.
The event was under the covers for about a month for the students to prepare to showcase their talents on the big day. More than 20 teams participated in this grand Ideathon to share their ideas. Each team presented a demonstration of their ideas. The event started with an inaugural witnessed by the management of SJEC that included director, Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, assistant director, Fr Rohith D’Costa and principal, Dr Rio D’Souza along with other invitees.
The panel of judge’s comprising of six eminent personalities were:
• Pramod D’Souza and Prashant Pansare, co-Founders of Eagle10 Ventures
• Shivaprasad, an NITK alumnus
• Dr Shridhar Rao, senior architect
• Dr Sridevi Saralaya, HOD of Computer Science Engineering
• Nihal, a consultant
Students from third and final year of Engineering and MCA participated in this event. The students were mentored by the faculty coordinators. Dr Purushothama Chippar, associate professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Yathish Kumar K, assistant professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Sangeeta Ferrao, placement officer along with members of the Innovation Club of SJEC worked very closely with the students ensuring active and meaningful participation. Anusha M M, assistant professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering was the host during the inaugural.
Team RNS was awarded Outstanding Innovative Idea award in addition to three other winners. Team Land Sharks won the first prize while team Accipro and team Book My Occasion won the second and third prizes, respectively.
