Blast in Meerut, Six Dead - Cops Rule out Terror Attack

New Delhi, Nov 8: At least six people died and several others injured following a blast in Meerut's Zakir Nagar locality on Saturday. 

The explosion occurred when ragpickers were rummaging through garbage. According to police, it was a high intensity blast.

"The labourers were rummaging through the waste which was to be transported when the blast occurred," Deputy Inspector General of Police P K Ramashastri told

The nature of the blast was not known.
