Makkah: DKSC Makkah Zone President Muhammad Kaansa Passed Away

Makkah, Nov 10: Muhammad Kaansa Uppinangady (52) passed away due to severe cardiac arrest at Makkah Al Mukarramah in Saudi Arabia, on November 1, 2008. He suffered from acute chest pain at night (around the Saudi time 10.30 pm), while he was providing his services to the Hajjajs (Hajj Pilgrims) in Makkah. With the efforts of the Dakshina Kannada Sunni Centre (DKSC) members and others, the funeral rites of the deceased was held the very next day after completing all the legal and administrative formalities. The funeral prayer was offered for the deceased in the holy masjid after Ishaa (night) prayer and entombment was held in the graveyard of Jannathul Mahallah in Makkah in the presence of a large number of his friends, well wishers and relatives.
Muhammad Uppinangady was the president of DKSC, Makkah zone and had been active in the centre and DIEC, Mani and the Gulf units since 1997 and was the member of its central executive committee in D K. He was working in Minaz Hajj Tours.
He had been in the Kaansa district near Makkah Grand Masjid, since more than about 30 years. So, the area's name came to be eventually attached to his name and he was popularly known as "Muhammad Kaansa". He had gained fame and popularity because of the dedicated and altruistic services he rendered to the community. He had actively involved in the community services since the last many years, doing several constructive activities in and around Makkah city. He was serving as a good guide and volunteer for those who come in to Makkah for performing Hajj and Umrah, particularly, but not limited to, the pilgrims from Mangalore and its neighboring places. He jad just come back only ten days prior to his death, after completion of his six months vacation with his family in Uppinangady. But the destiny made him to reach the eternal abode on the very next day of his arrival to Makkah.
"The sad demise of Muhammad Kaansa is really a huge loss for us in particular and the community in general, because of his selfless services and humbleness. He was very much loved by almost all the people in the holy city as well as other parts of the kingdom including people living in his native town. He did nothing for himself for his own, but rendered relentless services for the people in and around him. We pray Allah to give him eternal peace and forgiveness and endurance for his family to bear the loss", Lathief Mapal Uppinangady, Jeddah and Mustaque Ahmed Ullal, branch manager of Al Muhaidib Company, Riyadh, close friends and well-wishers of the deceased, said, expressing their commiseration..
He originally hailed from Kalladka and but became a native of Uppinangady later. He was the son of Kalladka Pandith Sheikabba. He is survived by his mother, wife, three daughters and a large number of friends and admirers. Many have expressed their condolences on the death of Muhammad Kaaansa including DKSC Makkah zone, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Jubail.
