Got call from PM's office when objected to raise in MPs salaries: Varun Gandhi

Bhiwani, Oct 24(PTI): BJP lawmaker Varun Gandhi said on Tuesday that when he raised objections about increase in salaries of MPs, he got a call from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), asking "why are you increasing our troubles?"

During a programme in Model Women's College in Bhiwani, the lawmaker from Sultanpur said, "I repeatedly raise my voice about the increase in salaries of MPs and not giving details of their assets. Employees of every sector get increase in their wages based on hard work and honesty. But in the last 10 years, MPs have increased their salaries seven times just by raising their hands."

"When I raised this issue once, I received a call from the PMO," he said. "Why are you increasing our troubles?" I was asked, he said, according to news agency PTI.

Questioning the education system of the country, he gave examples of schools in Uttar Pradesh.

"In Uttar Pradesh schools, except studies, all programs are held. Religious and marriage functions are organised, after funeral, the rituals are completed on its premises. Children play cricket and leaders deliver speeches in schools," Gandhi said.

He said "Every year Rs 3 lakh crore is spent on education, but 89 per cent of that money is spent on buildings, which cannot be called education."

"Today, 40 per cent of farmers in the country take land on contract, which is illegal because they do not get any help from the government; neither do they get a loan or compensation if the crop is wasted. In the last 10 years, the input cost for farmers has increased threefold, causing distress which led to suicide by 17,000 farmers in Vidarbha," he said.

Varun Gandhi also described the increasing pollution in the country as "dangerous" and suggested instead of giving a bouquet of flowers to somebody, give them a plant.

Apart from his initial Political Journey with few hate speeches, the man has completely undergone a tremendous change in personality. The maturity level, the boldness in speaking, remaining calm most of the time - we are looking at a future leader. He needs to start thinking independently and change Party.
What's the point in only speaking and no actions like ShivSena .

On a Note: One still cannot present his/her opinion to the Central Government even if the person belongs to the ruling Party. It's very clear. God alone knows when will the Central Government start listening to people and accept criticism to improvise.

Varun Ji, why don't you change your party??? Gujjus don't allow you to express your opinion and try to pull your leg whenever you do raise voice!!!

Be a brave Gandhi family member and fight for the cause.

Either join liberal party's or form your own party. I feel pity for you in BJP as you can't come up the ladder as long as present leaders rule and a qualified & dignified person you deserve liberal party..

This is called the real son of India. Though he is in BJP, he will voice his opinion.

Great example of Mrs. Gandhi's blood flowing in his vein. Grandmother, father and uncle Rajiv have laid down their life for this country.

It is high time Varun to quit this chaddi party and join the party of decent trouser people the proud congis.

Now I will proudly say Jai India

This is the difference between original and duplicate. Family upbringing, family values and family history always counts a lot rather than unknown person, disguising like saviour but selfish, self centred and corrupt to the core. Above all, big feku.

At least we appreciate the honesty of Varun Gandhi.

Descent salary should be given by my point is :-
First time MP should get less salary... e.g... Karandlaje, Mysore MP etc... Just for example 😁

Second time MP should get more salary than first time...
Likewise fifth time MP should get better salary than fourth time MP...

Only PM should get highest pay...
