Train tragedy averted in UP


Lucknow, Oct 25 (IANS): A train tragedy was averted on Thursday by a railway employee who discovered a fracture on the tracks on the busy Lucknow-Kanpur route, officials said.

He immediately alerted the Station Master at the Gangaghat station after spotting the crack near the Saraiyya crossing.

Many trains were stopped at the Gangaghat station and were later allowed to run at slow speed, an official told IANS.

Officials said that on Wednesday night many trains had gone over the fractured track.
