ED names P Chidambaram, 8 others as accused in Aircel Maxis case

New Delhi, Oct 25 (DC): The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday filed charge sheet against former Union minister P Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case.

The charge sheet, filed at Delhi's Patiala House court, lists a total of 9 accused including Chidambaram, S Bhaskaraman and four Maxis companies.

The court has fixed November 26 for consideration of the charge sheet.

Earlier this month, on October 8, the Delhi court had extended interim protection for P Chidambaram as well as his son Karti till November 1.

The agency is probing how P Chidambaram, who was the Union finance minister in 2006, granted a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval to a foreign firm, when only the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was empowered to do it.

It had also alleged that Chidambaram had granted an FIPB approval in March 2006 to Mauritius-based Global Communication Services Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Maxis.

The senior Congress leader's role has come under the scanner of investigating agencies in the Rs 3,500-crore Aircel-Maxis deal and the INX Media case involving Rs 305 crore.

However, both P Chidambaram and his son, Karti, have denied the allegations levelled against them by the CBI and the ED.

hmm.. Will be interesting to see how long the law will take to complete the investigation, prosecution and give judgement... In India these tactics are used for political gains and vendetta.. if guilty then anyone and everyone should be dealt firmly and quickly, not dragged along to buy time for political gains..
Also want to see ED doing the same in the Jay Shah case and also the Rafale deal... Today Congress tomorrow the Pee party... what goes around comes around... Fools are the Bhakths who gloat and stay blind for the rest of their lives...

This case should have been in court by now. CBI and ED have been probing and investigating even under the grave since very long time but so far they could not find any evidence. BJP is comfortably using these agencies for its self interest from tax payers money. This is one of such BJP developments as Faku claims benefitting only them.

What Chidddu and his son have made out of the deals involving Aircel-Maxis and the INX Media is just a tea-spoon-full, compared to what Modi/Shah have made by involving their stooges La-Mo/NiMo, Mallya, Bab Ramdev, Adani, Ambani, Jay Shah, Beef exporting moghuls and now CBI.

People will remember that Chidambaram and his son are in India and abiding by whatever the law asks of them as penal measures - several of Modi's chelas have already fled.

You are forgetting that the saints in BJP have their kin serving as counsels to La-Mo and Ni-Mo.

Aircel-Maxis and the INX Media are Indian companies, giving jobs to Indians whereas both the Modis have looted the nation and fled.
