Goa government finally admits Parrikar suffering from pancreatic cancer

Panaji, Oct 27 (IANS): Months after both the Goa BJP and the state administration refused to disclose Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's ailment, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday finally admitted he was suffering from pancreatic cancer.

The dmission came amid relentless demands from the opposition parties to know whether the Chief Minister was fit enough to govern. The state government had hitherto been dodging persistent querries on Parrikar's illness.

"He is the CM of Goa and the fact is that he is not well. He has got pancreatic cancer. There is no hiding of this fact," Rane told reporters on here, a day after the Congress gave the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government four days to prove that Parrikar was of "sound health and mind" and in a position to govern the state.

"Let him be peaceful with his family. That much right he has, after serving the people of Goa, that if he wants to spend some quality time with his family, nobody has the business to ask...," Rane said.

Parrikar, who is currently being treated for advanced pancreatic cancer, has been in an out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, New York and Delhi.

His absence has created a leadership vacuum in Goa, even as the opposition has demanded that he step aside to focus on treatment.

Parrikar has not had a single public appearance since his return from Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences on October 14 and is currently bedridden at his private residence, which party sources said has been converted into a sophisticated medical facility, with doctors and para-medical staff on 24-hour duty.

Rane also slammed the Congress for playing politics over the ailing Chief Minister's health, saying if the Congress wanted to go to court to learn of Parrikar's health condition, it was free to do so.

We all know this. Yet why the politiciansdo not under go medical check and assume powe if they are found fjt only. Wby all this drama. If the Mi isters are found u nfit pbysically why not theyitep down and make way for fit ones. Are we short of able persons?

Also fix a retirement age for all politicians before they go senile.

I sincerely hope somebody from somewhere will at least understand what I am saying.

None of us are permanent in this world. Sickness can come at any time and no money or power in the world can save us from the ultimate truth. Parrikar is holding an important position and when he is suffering this way,

I fail to understand why he is clinging on to his chair? Why cant he give up the position and take rest when the treatment is going on, and leave the administration of the sate to other able hands?

The IIT Bombay alumnus who traveled to Ayodhya for the Babri Masjid demolition brought the right-wing BJP to power in a state is not clean as he seems.
After coming to power, he is flexing his authoritarian muscles and shoving decisions down people's throats. Like for example, Mopa airport which isn't wanted by most Goans since we already have the self-sufficient Dabolim airport; and Mopa is only one BIG real estate scam, with politicos and real estate agencies have already bought hundreds of acres in the surrounding already.
He had also promised to get rid of Casinos in Mandovi river...Now instead there are more than there were in Congress time since he is best buddies with casino tycoon Jaydev Mody (Soli sorabjee's son-in-law)...yep the same Soli who gave him the Indian of the year award a couple of years back. (Fishy eh?)
Also, Parrikar is hand in gloves with real estate lobbies (catering to second homes for Non goans) who's rampant constructions have destroyed the nature and ecology in some parts of Goa.
He's stifling and threatening the opposition with corruption cases (of which they are indeed guilty), so that no one can oppose him.
He bends laws to suit his cabinet and his kin whether its a case of land grab as in case of Serula communidade or getting his son's industry set up in a matter of days in Tuem.

Prime Minister Modi which created 'Ayush' ministry promoting cow based medicines to the rest of world. But for his own minister ailing from cancer they need advance treatment from the United States on taxpayers money.
    1. Now government finally being admitted Chief Minister ailing conditions, will they reply pending Right Information Act, how much money does it cost exchequer for more than two visits of Parikkar? 2. Why Ayush treatment is not sought for both Ananth Kumar and Parikkar in India or Baba Ramdev 'Yoga'?
    3. Is BJP scared of Parrikar disclosing about 'Rafale' and deliberately delaying substitute on Goan expense?
