Mangaluru, Oct 27: An accused was arrested by the police here on Saturday October 27 for his involvement in chain snatching in the city.
Habib Hassan alias Habbi(39), resident of Permannur is the arrested.
In yet another incident of chain snatching, Sanjivi (55), a resident of Katipalla had lost her gold chain to unknown chain snatchers who came in bike. Sanjivi was on the way to buy grocery in Katipalla at 9.30 pm on September 10. The value of the chain is Rs 65,000.
In a similar incident, when Bhavani G Rao was on her way home at 1st block on September 12 at about 2.45 pm, two unknown men who arrived on motor cycle from opposite direction, stopped their vehicle in front of her house gate and snatched two gold chains both weighing 16 grams each. Her police complaint states that the chains cost about Rs 90,000.
Two sovereign karimani chains and a gold chain worth about Rs 1.55 lacs are confiscated from him. A search for his accomplices is in progress. The accused is in judicial custody.
The operation was conducted in the leadership of Suratkal police station inspector by Sundari K and station staff in the guidance of their senior officials.
