Malegaon Blasts: ATS Arrests Religious Leader in UP

Kanpur, Nov 12: A Maharashtra ATS team on Wednesday arrested a religious leader, who heads a math in Jammu, from Kanpur in connection with Malegaon blast case.

"The person arrested has been identified as Dayanand Pandey, who hails from Uttar Pradesh", state Additional Director General, Law and Order, Brijlal said. Pandey, he said, was mathadheesh of a math in Jammu.

The accused is being taken to Lucknow from Kanpur, he said with elaborating. Sources said that Pandey was allegedly in hiding in Kanpur.

Meanwhile, national convenor of Bajrang Dal Prakash Sharma said that Pandey had "no links" with his outfit.

"I am not even aware of this person. I don't know who he is. He is not a member of Bajrang Dal," Sharma said when contacted.

The two-member ATS team had reached Uttar Pradesh last night to probe the Malegaon case.
