Mangaluru: Airport Authority inaugurates Vigilance Awareness Week

Mangaluru, Oct 29: As per the directives of Airport Authority of India (AAI), corporate vigilance department, the Vigilance Awareness Week for the year 2018 is being observed from October 29 to November 3.

On the first day, as part of vigilance awareness week 2018, Airports Authority of India, Mangaluru International Airport under the leadership of airport director V V Rao inaugurated the integrity club at Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Panambur here on Monday, October 29.



Airport director V V Rao focused on this year’s theme 'Eradicate corruption – build new India' and said, "Today’s young generation will be the future assets of our nation. It is impossible to build a new India without the inspiration of the young minds. That is why integrity club is conceived so that the students will participate and have the opportunity to become younger champions of ethics." Vigilance pledge too was executed in school along with the airport director.

"The integrity club will inculcate the 12 specific values in the younger minds like Integrity, patriotism, tolerance, secularism, simplicity, honesty, love, compassion, responsibility, respect, non-violence and unity," said V V Rao.

Rao further said, "The main objective of the integrity club is to inculcate, imbibe and strengthen human values through moral education in the children to promote a culture of honesty and ethical living in the society at large."

As a part of this, various activities and programs will be conducted in the school to encourage and inculcate the 12 specific values in the younger minds which are future basic building blocks of new India. Rao also said that these activities will be conducted in a playful, interesting and rewarding manner.

Airport authority of India has allocated a sum of Rs 50,000 for this financial year ending March 2019 for this purpose. Various activities and competitions will go a long way till March 2019. Rao urged all students to enroll in this integrity clubs and hold a chance to become a role model in the society. Activities like discussion on integrity club among members, quiz competition, painting competition, group discussions, debates, sensitization workshops, plays and skits are included in the programme.

In-charge of KV No1 School, George P T, PA To airport director Hazel Concessao, assistant general manager ATC, Ramindh, Manager (HR) Arun Mahadevan were present on the occasion.

Mangaluru international airport also conducted the vigilance pledge at the airport premises under the leadership of the airport director. All the staff of airport authority, various airlines, customs, immigration and all the other concessionaires were present in the pledge taking ceremony. This was followed by the inaugural function in which the Kanara chamber of commerce president Abdul Hameed was the chief guest.
