Panaji, Oct 31 (TOI): Vijai SardesaiTown and country planning minister Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said the administration has been affected not because of chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s health, but due to an insensitive bureaucracy.
Talking to reporters, the minister said the achievement of a government lies in delivering on promises made to the electorate. “In some case, even when there is no involvement of the chief minister, Goans are being deprived because of the bureaucracy,” said Sardesai, adding that the administration’s performance did not meet expectations.
Expressing his disappointment with the law department, the Fatorda MLA said, “For example, I had announced on the floor of the House almost a year ago about waiving off infrastructure tax to ethnic Goans for building new houses on 250sqm plots. This was in interest of every Goan, but it is yet to be implemented as it is stuck between the law department and advocate general’s office.”
“The chief minister is not involved in this. It is perhaps because of the bureaucracy that people are not getting a good governance.”
Reacting to the induction of two Congress MLAs in the BJP, Sardesai said that even the saffron leadership was aware that this would a create a sense of disillusionment among its cadres and would not help in the long run.
He said though the Congress is saying that the BJP wants to dissolve the assembly, indications are otherwise. “If Congress MLAs realise that their party wants the House to be dissolved, they will not stay with it. Not a single MLA wants such a thing to happen,” he added.
When asked about allocation of additional portfolios, the minister said, “First, we have to do justice to the ones which are with us.”
