New Delhi, Nov 14: The North East India Emnarat-E-Sharyiah has issued a fatwa against all sorts terrorism following a convention of Muslim social and religious leaders organized by the Assam State Jamiat Ulama e Hind in Guwahati.

The EES stated that "Islam never approves of terrorism. Any kind of terrorism is against its faith as it is against humanity."

The Muslim leaders from the region opined that Islam has given clear direction to mankind to eradicate terrorism and work for establishing peace and harmony. "According to the Koran, the killing of an innocent person is equal to killing mankind," the EES said denouncing the recent serial blasts in the state.

The Muslim leaders also expressed concern over the tendency of certain quarters to link all Muslims with terrorism sans concrete evidence. They also disapproved of the media hurling accusations at the community after every terrorist attack in the country.

They said, "If any Muslim is involved in terrorist activities, he is violating the essence of religion." The president of Assam State unit of the Jamiat Ulama �e-Hind, Badaruddin Ajmal said, "Any Muslim involved in terrorism, can't be a Muslim."

The EES called upon all in the society to remain vigil against terrorists and launch joint fight against terrorism irrespective of religion, caste and creed as terrorism was against the entire humanity.

Arshad Madani, president of the All India Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, told media-persons that terrorism was not triggered by any particular community or religion, saying, "Many Muslims have been killed in blasts throughout the country."

Appealing to the people of Assam to fight against terrorism, Madani alleged the Indian government was resorting to harassment of Muslims in the name of fighting terrorism.
