Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Sangha celebrates 63rd Rajyotsava with fervour

Abu Dhabi, Nov 3: Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha celebrated the 63rd Karnataka Rajyotsava at the Indian Social Centre, Abu Dhabi on Friday, November 2.

Large numbers of Kannadigas participated in the event. This is also 38th anniversary for the Sangha.

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha president Sarvotham Shetty welcomed chief patron of Sangha, Padma Shree Dr B  R Shetty, Dr Chandra Kumari B R Shetty, along with Indian High Commissioner  to UAE, Navdeep Suri and Ronald Pinto, MD, Hyssna International.









































































































































The full-day programme was inaugurated by Dr B R Shetty, president of India Social Centre Ramesh Panicker, well known community leader and philantropist Ronald Pinto of Hyssna International and other dignitaries by lighting of the lamp.

Navdeep Suri conferred Dr B R Shetty with the honourary title of ‘Karnataka Ratna’ on behalf of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and all Kannadigas of UAE. The felicitation comprised a shawl, flower bouquet, Mysuru Peta and memento.

Speaking on the occasion Navdeep Suri said, "I am an ambassador appointed by government of India. But Dr Shetty is an ambassador appointed and honoured by the people. His life is an inspiration for all of us. The land of Karnataka has created a lot of talents and visionaries like Dr B R Shetty. Hence, there is some speciality in the soil of Karnataka. People from here are gifted,”

D. B R Shetty expressed his happiness for being chosen for the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ honour. "I came to UAE to fulfil my personal commitments. But this land gave me everything. We should not forget the past and should maintain the ethics that comes as a legacy from our families," Dr Shetty said.

He wished all Kannadigas a happy Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Famous humourist Prof Krishnegowda who came as a special invitee from Mysuru entertained the audience with his knowledge of Kannada and humour.

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha ladies throw ball team was honoured during the occasion.

The children, who excelled in their education, were felicitated with Hamdan Awards. They were all called to the stage and felicitated by president of UAE Exchange Sudhir Kumar Shetty.

Many local artistes presented folk dance, patriotic songs and other dance performances.

UAE Exchange was the main sponsor of the event. Hyssna Interiors was the was co sponsor. Jet Airways was supporting sponsor which provided two complimentary tickets.

    Our congratulations to the Karnataka Sangha of Abu Dhabi for celebrating the Rajotsava in Abu Dhabi recently in a colorful manner. There is so much to read all over the world the community gatherings of so many varieties all over the world that identify varied communities of India with their communal displays commemorating different occasions and festivals.

    Indians have proved themselves fully adaptable to all parts of the world so that they can not only display their own national talents and languages, but also conform to many other communities and cultures of the world. Adaptability is a pride of India, and we are capable of accommodating so many International tastes and needs and celebrate in whichever way we can to make ourselves comfortable wherever we are and whatever we have.
