Mizoram Speaker Hiphei resigns from post, House, Congress; joins BJP

Aizawl, Nov 5 (PTI): Mizoram Speaker Hiphei said Monday he has resigned from his post, House and the Congress.

Hiphei said he submitted his resignation letter to Deputy Speaker R Lalrinawma, who accepted it. He said that he also resigned from the ruling Congress party and would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday.

Hiphei, a veteran leader, was elected to the 40-member Assembly from the Palak constituency in 2013.

Mizoram, the only state in the north-east under the Congress rule, will go to the polls on November 28.

    This is another 'Operation Kamala' of BJP like Arunachal Pradesh. In Arunachal Pradesh Congress Chief Minister was first committed suicide living death note accusing BJP of his cause. Then entire Congress party formed a new party which is supported by BJP. When the Congress left with one member in the assembly the newly formed party merged with BJP.

    This is how BJP is won Arunachal Pradesh without elections. Perhaps Mizoram is next in card that is the last state under Congress ruling.

    Any defection of the sitting member of the house is against the mandate of the voters. I would request 'Association of Democratic Right' or any like-minded citizen of India to file a petition in the Supreme Court to strengthen the 'Anti-defection' law.

    These 'operation Kamala' is the basic reason for corruption in the democratic system.
    It can only be curbed by banning the member from contesting elections for a lifetime and his immediate blood relations.
